Houston, We Are Clear For Take-Off
The Houston Texans offense came to play on Saturday as they clinch a playoff berth after defeating the Chargers handily. While the loss doesn’t affect any post-season appearances as the Chargers have already clinched a spot in the playoffs, it’s a bit of a warning for the rest of the league of what the Texans are capable of.
The Houston Texans (11-5), in a surprise fashion, handled the Chargers with an offensive flair as C.J Stroud goes for 244 yards, 2 TDs and 2 interceptions, Woody Marks led rushing on 19 carries for 71 yards, and Jayden Higgins led receivers with 88 yards. The Houston defense, arguably the best in the league, maintained their dominance against the Chargers with 5 sacks, 8 QB hits, and an interception to cement their victory and post-season appearance.
The Los Angeles Chargers (11-5) struggled to get things going against Houston after falling to a quick 14-point deficit, and some miscues on offense and special teams dug them a hole they couldn’t get out of. Justin Herbert went 21/32 for 236 yards, 1 TD and 1 interception; with Just Herbert also leading rushing with 37 yards, and Quentin Johnston had 5 catches for 98 yards. The Charger defense were unable to get much pressure on Stroud, but were able to get 2 interceptions.
